Terms of use

Last updated 19 September 2026.

Original Entry is coursework software for an accounting course. Using it means agreeing to the few things below.

Who it is for

Students enrolled in a section that uses it, and the instructors and graders who teach those sections. Accounts are made by joining with a code from your instructor.

Your sign-in link

A sign-in link and its six-digit code are yours alone, they last fifteen minutes, and they work once. Do not pass them on. If you think someone else has used your account, tell your instructor and they can end every session and issue you a new code.

Your own books

The work you record should be your own. Do not try to reach another student's books or the answer keys; the app refuses both, and it keeps a record of attempts. What counts as acceptable collaboration on an assignment is your institution's policy and your instructor's to judge. This app takes no view and accuses nobody.

Marks

The app marks each part of the work from what you actually recorded, and shows your instructor what it credited and why. Your instructor can change any mark, and their judgement stands over the app's. Marks appear to you when your instructor releases them.

When it is unavailable

Work that has been saved is safe, and an entry you are typing is kept in your browser until it saves. If the app is unavailable for more than thirty minutes within a day of a deadline, that deadline moves by twenty-four hours. Tell your instructor either way.

What you make, and what this is

The accounting work you enter is yours; your institution keeps it as an education record. Original Entry itself (the software, the screens and the course material in it) is © 2026 AJ Henley, and is not to be copied or redistributed without permission.

No warranty

This is a teaching tool, offered as it is, without any warranty. It is not accounting advice and not a system of record for a real business.
